The content of CRM Recurrent Training covers almost the same topics as CRM Initial. However, the amount of time is significantly reduced.
The CRM Recurrent Training focuses on the analysis of aircraft accidents and aircraft incidents.
Before commencing commercial aviation, each crew member should complete CRM Initial Training.
The training requirements are different for Multi-Pilot Operation (MP-OPS) and Single-Pilot-Operation (SP-OPS) - especially with regard to the duration of the training.
The possibility to dispense with recurrent training and instead complete CRM initial training every 3 years can no longer be taken from the current legal text of EASA AirOps. In the EASA AirOps there is only talk of "Annual Recurrent Training" in several places.
Therefore, we are of the opinion that the maintenance of the validity of the CRM training can only be guaranteed by annual recurrent training.
The validity period is not specified exactly. The Recurrent training courses are to be distributed evenly over a period of 3 years. This means that the validity does not expire after 12 months.
Since an emergency training (Emergency & Safety), as well as a theory training and, if necessary, a refresher training for winter operation (Cold Weather Operation) must be carried out every year, it is advisable to combine these trainings with CRM Recurrent Training.
